A standard sleeve or a set-in sleeve in a t-shirt or a shirt is probably the one we are most used to. This sleeve is attached vertically to the shirt at the shoulder with the seam going around the armhole. While this is good and stylish for formal and semi-formal events, they do not perform as well as raglan sleeves in sporting or fitness activities.

Raglan sleeves are one continuous piece of fabric which attach themselves at the neck. The advantages of these are plenty. Firstly there is no seam at the shoulder so no chance of irritation or chafing if the armhole is too small and no chance of movement being interrupted if it is too big.

Secondly a wider underarm area means that the range of motion the arm goes through will be much easier and free as compared to a standard sleeve.
